Circle of Life

The Memorial Hermann Hospital System’s annual “Circle of Life” gala is one of Houston’s most extravagant celebrations. Taking place in the Hilton Americas in the heart of downtown, the gala features elaborate themes and custom performances designed by Ward & Ames. In the 2015 gala, we built a custom dance band with 8 singers and 12 dancers augmenting the band’s 16 musicians and we named the gala Hoopla to honor the year’s honorarium, the Houston Rockets.

Ronald McDonald House Boo Ball

Ronald McDonald House’s bi-annual gala took place on the eve of Halloween, so it seemed appropriate to celebrate the season with a ghoulish theme. The evening included performances, designed by our in-house choreographer Tony Smith, to classic seasonal hits including Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

“Star & Stripes – Symbols of Texas History” was a landmark exhibit of rare Texas flags and a dinner honoring President George W. Bush at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. in 2003. Celebrating Excellence

In early 2011, The Methodist Hospital celebrated a milestone in their capital campaign, and announced the exciting addition of the Nantz National Alzheimer’s Center. We featured a 42-piece orchestra positioned in front of a giant 92-foot video screen onto which we projected a moving tribute to the hospital’s beloved physicians, patients and donors. Jim Nantz was the master of ceremonies and performers from Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera and Houston Symphony were featured to create 3 acts of entertainment in and around dinner. The 3 Acts were dedicated to Medical Education, Patient Care, and Translational Research at Methodist Hospital.

The Presidents Cup

Ward & Ames designs, manages and produces the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the Commissioner’s Dinner, Taste of Nations Gala and other smaller events tandem to this biennial match between the American and International Teams – in Washington, Montreal and San Francisco. As is the case with virtually all PGA Tour events, charity is the ultimate winner of The Presidents Cup as there is no purse for this tournament. Net revenues are divided into equal shares and dispersed to charities or golf-related projects of the players’ and Captains’ choice. The first five Presidents Cups generated $10.05 Million for charities worldwide and were contributed in their names through PGA Tour Charities, Inc.

Our theme for this spectacular event was “Diamond on the Diamond,” to celebrate 75 years of one of the most respected engineering firms in the nation. Walter P. Moore’s extravaganza for 1,000 guests took place on the outfield of Minute Maid Park and included a fun lounge with a unique atmosphere in the middle of the party. A total of 50,000 square feet of glass allows baseball fans and the party’s guests a great view of Houston’s wonderful downtown skyline.
